Gary (Sandy) Wilson

Stanley Gary Wilson

If you ever played poker with Gary, you often went home with fewer dollars than you brought to the table, but were beguiled by his quick wit and warm friendship.  If you were ever a student of Mr. Wilson, you were fortunate to learn from a master educator whose passion for teaching translated into lives changed.  Stanley Garrett "Gary" Wilson, small in stature but a giant to his family and friends, passed away on March 14, 2014 at Hospice at Balfour.  Born in Muncie, IN, the second son of Irma and Maurice Wilson, Gary considered Colorado home.  It was at Fairview High School in Boulder that he met the love of his life, Sandy, and they were blessed to celebrate their 47th anniversary just prior to his passing.

Gary served in the Navy as a 3rd Class Petty Officer from 1966 - 1970, stationed in New Jersey studying meteorology and later in San Diego and Guam.  Upon his graduation from the University of Northern CO with a degree in elementary education, he spent 34 years teaching second and fifth grade at Eisenhower Elementary in Boulder.

There was nothing sedentary about Gary's retirement.  His garden was replete with delicious and abundant vegetables; his AT outings were legendary; his passion for the Broncos was unequaled; and his zest for life and family remained paramount.  Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Christopher.  He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy, his two daughters Kellie Bain and Corie Anderson, Ed Anderson whom he loved as a son, and grandchilfren Charlee Bain, Cody Anderson, Kyle O'Neil, and Trent O'Neil.  A celebration of Gary's life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boulder on April 12, 2014 at 1 p.m.  Donations may be made in Gary's memory to Hospice at Balfour in Louisville, CO.
