Roger Berardi

We are heartbroken, shocked and filled with sorrow to announce the passing of Roger Berardi. He was a much beloved figure of the Boulder County community. Roger, "Rog", rode into the sunset on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. Roger Neil Berardi was born on January 13, 1946, in Oceanside California. He was married to his loving wife, Julie, for 50 years. He was a devoted father and best friend to his children, Anne & Charlie. Growing up in Boulder, Colorado, Roger graduated from Fairview High School in 1964, was an outstanding athlete exceling in track & field. He attended the University of Colorado before embarking into a lifelong passion in the restaurant industry. Throughout the years of his hard work, he owned several businesses. It all began with The Roman Arches (Boulder), continued with Berardi & Son's (Boulder, Downtown Denver & Fort Collins), Juanita's (Boulder), Juanita's Uptown & Mike Berardi's (Uptown Denver). Cooking and entertaining were not just a job, but a lifelong passion that he loved to share with all his family and friends. Roger's hobbies included collecting and restoring classic cars and motorcycles, traveling, boating, fishing, golfing...every one of these included making friends and putting his individual stamp on each and every person he was with or met. He supported the University of Colorado Buffaloes athletic programs, traveling across the nation to cheer them on or hosting legendary tailgates for football games. When he was not enjoying the Colorado sunshine, he and Julie wintered in their Arizona home. Roger was quick with his opinion and how he thought the world should be. He thrived on being informed and arguing his political beliefs, but overall, he was very generous and had a genuine compassion and desire to help others. Roger is also survived by his brother Dick Berardi and sister Nancy Bingham, as well as many loved cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. He is preceded in death by his parents Evaline and Charles "Jiggs" Berardi. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of Colorado Neurological Movement Disorder Division.
