Janice Tankersley Obituary
Our beloved Jan passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the age of 73. Janice Adele Tankersley of Humble, Texas was born September 10, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York to Frances and Daniel Alver. She graduated from Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado and majored in accounting at North Harris County College. She would later own and operate a successful bookkeeping business before working for Smith International/Schlumberger for several years until her retirement.
To know Jan was to love Jan. She was spunky, had the sweetest disposition and the best laugh. She liked to cook, and her boys all agree that she made the best tacos and macaroni and cheese. She was a sports enthusiast-especially when it came to watching the Denver Broncos, the Houston Astros and her Texans. She loved to travel-Paris being her favorite place of all. She was the biggest dog lover and participated in countless agility competitions around the country with her dogs. Her Brittany Spaniel “Breeze” was ranked as one of the top 5 Brittany spaniels, and together they participated in the AKC Invitational in Long Beach, CA. While she loved many things, her greatest joy was her husband Reggie. Their love story lasted almost 40 years.
Jan is preceded in death by her father Daniel, her mother Frances, and her husband Reggie.
She is survived by her stepsons: Kevin and wife Rhonda, Mickey and wife Mary, Jody and wife Anna, and grandchildren: Shelby, Jade, Emily, Justin, and Jordan. She is also survived by her brother Bert and his wife Shirley.
No services will be held at this time.
A special thank you to the caregivers at Brookdale Willowbrook (CB2) who loved and cared for Jan.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Jan’s memory with a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
